Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a form of psychological therapy which involves working with the unconscious. We all experience trance-like states everyday and trance is the basis of hypnotherapy. In trance we can connect to our unconscious mind, which is where many habitual behaviours and thought patterns are formed, and work to make changes to our live on a basal level.
The trance state is akin to those times when we daydream, or lose track of time. We all experience trance in our daily lives, we just may not realise it. Think of the last time you stared into space or arrived at a destination far quicker than you expected, not quite aware of the journey.
During therapy the therapist will create a comfortable, safe environment for you to relax in and switch off from external pressures and your conscious thoughts. By focussing on the therapist’s voice you will be guided to examine your issues at an unconscious level.
Hypnotherapy is an interactive process, rather than something that is "done to you" and in order for it to be effective it requires you to work together in partnership with the therapist.
